-
Within an approximate 4’ x 4’ area, apply the first paint color directly to the surface using our 5 inch Applicator paint brush.
-
Apply in heavy diagonal splotches so that the paint drips/runs.
-
Leave space in between splotches for additional colors.
-
Using the same brush, apply the additional color(s) in heavy splotches spaced between the first color splotches.
Helpful Tips
-
Dripping is good! That’s how the paint stays wet, giving you ample time to blend the colors.
-
NOTE: The most common mistake is not getting enough paint on the surface, causing an uneven texture illusion or streaking of colors.
-
After all of the colors have been applied, use the applicator brush to lightly spread the paint together across the surface.
-
Don’t over-blend using the brush because this may cause colors to appear “muddy”.
Helpful Tip
-
The paint should flow easily. If spreading the splotches of color is difficult, the paint has not been applied heavily enough. Heavily applying the paint as instructed extends the drying time, which makes this process so unique and easy to do.
-
Using a LIGHT patting/tapping motion using The Woolie to blend the paints to your desired look.
-
When you reach a corner, edge or ceiling line, just brush the paint colors evenly along these areas with the brush, followed by patting/tapping with The Woolie.
-
A small amount of patting/tapping will give the raw look of marble. More blending will create a more subtle and muted appearance.
-
Make sure to blend the colors enough to avoid paint drips or any undesired texture on your walls.
Helpful Tips
-
After blending the colors using The Woolie, review the result. (While the paint is still wet)
-
At that time, if you desire the overall end result to appear lighter, apply more of the lighter color when applying the paints to the surface.
-
If you desire the overall color to be darker, apply more of the darker color(s) when applying paints to the surface.
-
You do NOT need to tap too aggressively or with excessive force because the amount of force used has no affect on the resulting appearance. Using too much force may void The Woolie Pad warranty.
-
If you have an area that is very small or too difficult to reach, use The Little Woolie to blend these areas.
-
Proceed by patting/tapping with The Little Woolie to create a subtle transition to the adjacent area painted with the Full-Sized Woolie.
Helpful Tips
-
It very important that you apply masking tape to protect your woodwork and ceiling lines BEFORE you begin painting.
-
Always blend edges, corners and ceiling lines at the same time you are blending the main sections. Do NOT wait to do this until the end to blend these areas.

You should NOT use Faux Finish Glaze for this faux painting technique.
Type of Paint:
-
Use latex satin finish paint colors.
-
This will allow your surface to be scrubbed and is extremely durable.
-
The luster of the latex satin will enhance the final look as well.
-
Latex satin will also allow you the flexibility of adding additional optional layers using The Woolie.
-
One option is adding a second layer using the Color Wash Technique.
-
When using the Marbleizing Painting Technique, use at least 1 light color and 1 dark color.
-
These colors should be approximately 3 to 4 shades apart on a paint fan deck.
-
Additional colors may be included. The additional colors should be dark as well.
-
If you wish to increase the illusion of texture, choose your colors 4 to 6 shades apart instead of the standard 3 to 4 shades.
-
You can also decrease the illusion of texture by choosing colors 2 to 3 shades apart.
-
These recommendations are general guidelines and should be used as such. You can become more creative with experimentation and sampling of colors.

Protect areas where you don't want paint
-
Apply high quality 2” beige masking tape to protect areas such as woodwork, ceiling and any other areas that need to be protected from paint.
-
We recommend using the FrogTape Brand in 2” inch width.
-
Do not use low-adhesion or blue masking tape for this.
-
Use a putty knife to seal the tape to the surface.
-
Plastic or heavy plastic-faced drop cloths should be used to cover and protect the flooring completely.
Surface Preparation
-
Prior to faux finishing with The Woolie 2-Color Roller, make sure the area is clean of any contaminants such as grease, wax, dirt or any other material that would affect the adherence of paint to the surface.
-
If peeling paint, holes or cracks exist, they should be repaired with spackle, sanded and then touched up with primer.
-
If wall covering has been removed, make sure that any paste residue is cleaned from the surface. New drywall or plaster should be primed to seal the surface.
-
NOTE: If the paint is not adhering to the wall properly, (clumps up or cracks) it is likely because there is wallpaper paste, wallpaper removal solution or other residue on the wall. If this happens, we recommend to apply a coat of primer to the wall before painting.
-
If you have Eggshell, Satin, Semi-Gloss, Gloss or High Gloss Paint existing on walls, We recommend that you consult your local paint store professional as to the appropriate preparation necessary to paint on top of the existing surface sheen level.
Sheepskin Lint
-
WHY: The Woolie is made from natural sheepskin. When natural sheepskin is cut prior to the manufacturing of your tool, it WILL shed from the cutting process.
-
SOLUTION: It is necessary to remove any lint prior to use. You should remove any excess lint with the sticky side of masking tape.
-
If you remove the lint properly before the first use, you should not have to do this ever again.
How To Wash
The Woolie Tools
-
To clean, simply rinse in lukewarm water only.
-
Be sure to remove the paint from the sides.
-
Blot dry with a towel or paper towels, and fluff up.
-
If paint has dried on any of your paint tools, use a standard painter’s wire brush to GENTLY clean them.
